Maryland committee makes no vote on online casino regulation proposal

The Senate Budget and Taxation Committee has held a hearing on Senate Bill 885.

US.- The Maryland Senate Budget and Taxation Committee has held a hearing on a proposal to allow online casino and bingo gaming in the state. The hearing ended without a vote.

Senator Ron Watson‘s Senate Bill 885 would make regulation the responsibility of the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission. Licences could be issued to video lottery operators or sports wagering licensees.

The bill proposes live a 20 per cent revenue tax for live dealer games and 40 per cent for all other online casino games. The licence would be valid for five years, with a $1m fee for online casino, $500,000 for live dealer games and $500,000 for online bingo.
